What is TReDS?

TReDS is a digital platform introduced by RBI in 2014 to facilitate trade receivable financing for MSMEs from corporate buyers through multiple financiers. Despite their crucial role in the Indian economy, MSMEs face challenges in accessing adequate finance, mainly due to slow-paying invoices. TReDS helps convert trade receivables into liquid funds, ensuring faster cash flow.

The process involves three participants: MSME Supplier, Corporate Buyer, and Financier. The invoice is uploaded by either the buyer or supplier and approved by the other party. Financiers then bid on the invoice, and once the supplier accepts a bid, the discounted amount is credited to their account within T+1 day, where T is the day of acceptance.
